(Maybe) moving to new hosting in the future

I have been thinking about this since a long time ago. Currently, we are (and have been since two years) hosted on a shared server from our Belgian hosting provider Speedpacket. Although I never had a reason to complain, shared hosting is quite restrictive: less webspace and traffic throughput and no powers over what's running on the server.

That's why I might move UseBB.net to a dedicated or colocated server. It is quite expensive but it's a must for the future of our project, so we can optimally configure the server for UseBB and its website and eventually provide hosting space for a mods/plugins database. It may also enable us to use Trac for development.

As said, it is very expensive so I hope to make the costs lighter by using Google Adsense ads (as these were planned for the new website anyway) and eventually sell some textual ads (and of course donations will be quite welcome).

If and when this move will happen is unsure...

Could always look into VPS, its a cheaper alternative to dedicated.

Edit...
3 of them that are listed here:

It's cheaper but it may give problems when others on the server are using too much resources.

I am thinking about maintaining a colocated server together with Samuel. Costs are shared so it will be quite cheap to maintain.
