the user must be allowed to delete his own account.
many companies, countrys, admins have own legal notice.
this board cannot be used by these if this possibility do not exist.
there must be this option!

I would probably think that either this could be a modification or have it turnable on/off in the ACP.

In SMF it's an optional feature that's determined by the admin. That's probably the best way.

If the board owner was sending you spam one would question why you joined in the first place.
You mention legality. That is what would force the admin to delete your account. It is not the user's responsibility to delete their account, in my opinion.

That is not the same situation. You do not (in almost all circumstances) pay a monthly fee to be a member.

Many boards do not have this feature as a default, so I hardly think it's a must. But, in saying that, I would not object to it being an optional feature. Dietrich will decide if it is needed, and I will respect that.

If there was a delete option for members then you'd have people that aren't liked and delete themselves and then sign up again hoping for better under a new name, but the admin would see this only(IP address).

Or something like that anyway.

I don't know, i personally don't like the idea of it. But as long as its an off/on feature, i'm good.
