I've decided to write a new Mod for UseBB, a private messenging system I've creatively deemed "My Messenger". Not much has been done as of yet, except inserting some new language keys and modding panel.php to recognize the new act=messenger. The planned features for a first release include: Sending and receiving of private messages (duh). Spam protection (blocking messages from members x, y, z, only except messages from member x, y, z). Custom virtual folders. Possible future features: Archiving of messages. Message tracking. Address book. I'll keep those who are interested up to date on project status. _______________ Jake Wehner

This mod is dependant on the core function class of UseBB. The the date format, text area config, and url generator are being used, as well as the BBCode engine. This means that any BBCodes in your installation are automatically available in PMs. The screen shot below illustrates the BBCode integration, with the inset image showing the form. ** UPDATES ** Not much has been done in the past 2 days, as I've been tied up. Tommorrow, I plan to finish up the custom folder manager (just need to set up adding/removing/editing of folders). Then by this weekend, the spam filters. We should see a release by Saturday. _______________ Jake Wehner

with spamfilters, I think of something tot filters pms with badwords in their title, but it would be smarter to just report that to the admin (it's a forum, not the internet ) But an ignorefunction can be good, maybe also a possibility to turn pms off (by a user)

But an ignorefunction can be good, maybe also a possibility to turn pms off (by a user)I was thinking something like a textarea where you can add names and then select the method of filtering, ie ('disallow these', 'only allow these'), which should allow enough functionality. Turning PM's off will also be an option. Catching key words in the title could be something to concider, but I don't think forumers will try to sell 'male enhancment' products via a forum any time soon. If they surprise us, then we'll have to cross that bridge when we get there :p. _______________ Jake Wehner

May be the author could update his Mod for the last version of UseBB, it's a good Idea ... but it doesn't work with the version 0.5.1
