I have selected the option for search engine friendly urls, such as,
http://www.mysite.co.uk/topic-2.html Can I alter the code someplace to make the url read as, http://www.mysite.co.uk/t-2.html or http://www.mysite.co.uk/t2.html http://www.mysite.co.uk/t2234.html etc |

You need to alter the core PHP code to do this.
