There is a problem on my board with staying logged in. It is really weird too.

Here is my board:
www.backyardforums.gamertaglive.com

What happens is when I am at the main page it says "Log In" but if you go into a forum or another page then it says "Log Out (Justin)"

And I don't have any of the privileges of the Admin. Just as a guest.

My other member is complaining of the same problem. He is logged in, but does not see the "New Topic" buttons in the forums.

I am not sure if it is my host, or cookie problems. I really don't know.

It is a new board, I am guessing just a couple of hours.

Oh and now my other member told me that he is seeing my username in the "Log Out" button. WTF

If I don't get a quick answer I am going to get rid of this crap board. How is it possible that my other member over 200 miles away from me is logged in as me, when he put in his username and password?

First, you are using the secure setting which only works with HTTPS (this is clearly reflected in the ACP). Second, it might be the case that the subdomain + www. prefix is causing problems, but this seems unlikely to me.

Users can not just get logged in as eachother, you might have been passing URLs with session IDs and by hazard have been behind the same IP address.

No, I didn't copy and paste any links. I was using MSN Messenger and the only link that I gave to him was www.backyardforums.gamertaglive.com
Exactly like that, nothing else. And then he said that he was signed in under me.

And now, it isn't letting me log in at all.

Oh, and how would you go around changing that setting? As soon as it actually lets me log back in.

Also, is there a way to access the ACP directly? Without having to log in first, so I can change that setting?

Edit config.php and adjust the settings.

Ok, well my host looked at the problem and looked at the config.php file. He said that I am not using HTTPS setting or something.

So I can still not log in, and am having problems. Sorry, but I am done with this board. I am switching back to phpbb.

Thanks for your time I guess.

Ok, well my host looked at the problem and looked at the config.php file. He said that I am not using HTTPS setting or something.

You are running at HTTP (port 80), not HTTPS (port 443) so it is impossible that the cause of the problem is that you are "not using HTTPS setting".

Which is what you did in the beginning and which was the cause of the cookie not being set (I checked your forum and the session ID's kept being passed in the URLs, proving that the cookie was not sent back - because you're not at HTTPS).

I guess I can not provide any further help. All I can say is that this sort of problems has not come forward yet (unless people have assigned wrong settings) and hundreds of people are successfully using UseBB 1 on an almost equal number of different configurations (including Windows and BSD). So just calling this a "crap board" is nothing but a flame and certainly doesn't help anybody further.

Topic closed now.
