I have to say, I REALLY love this script. I've been using message boards since the mid 80s on BBSes (bulletin board systems). When I first moved to the internet, I found UBB (Ultimate Bulletin Board). Back then, they were the king. ezBoard came along and gave them a little run for their money - but then vBulletin came about - and became the new "king". Not long after that, Invision Power Board came about - and has become a VERY close #2 (in my opinion). phpBB2 was always very nice - but something has gone wrong with phpBB3. While a big improvement over phpBB2, version 3 is unnecessarily confusing at the AdminCP level - and it lacks some basic features that message boards need - especially "quick reply" - which they say will never be a part of phpBB (bad move). So I've been looking around for a good alternative to the feature-rich but pretty-much over-bloated forums out there - and believe me - I know of ALL the major players - and UseBB beats them all. For simplicity - For speed - And for layout. This is REALLY perfect. It's beyond simple at the user level AND at the Admin level. Can it use some more features? Yeah, I guess. I'm REALLY anxious to see what version 2 brings. But as it stands, this script makes for the perfect easy-to-use bulletin board system. I think the only thing I could ask for is a plug-in system to allow for certain features that not everyone needs - such as a payment system for members to upgrade their accounts. Anyway. I just felt compelled to write here. I have many, many forums all over the place - but I'll be replacing ALL my phpBBs with UseBB in the near future. I'll be looking to start ALL my new forums with UseBB. And maybe one day I'll even replace my Invision Power Boards and vBulletin forums as well.. Thank you!

If you haven't seen this yet. http://usebb.sourceforge.net/roadmap.phpUseBB 2 will have a plugin system, yeah, UseBB 1 is lacking alot, but it wasn't meant to have more then what you see already.

I like it so far as well. It wasn't my first pick. The forum I wanted to use doesn't run on MySQL5, which my host has.
Installing was way easy. It's fast, simple, SEO'd, templates are easy, though some things could be better.
imho the dutch language isn't really correct on some items, but I think it's done by a Belgian person, which is different in some parts.
atm I'm restyling it to give it a bit more professional design, adding some eye-candy, more icons, for quote, edit, reply, and stuff.
I do miss a list-UBB-code, but i can life without it for now, hope it'll be in version 2.
Same goes for the templating system, some ordering on items i like to have changed, but then you need to edit the php-files, which i honestly don't like to edit. Example: I'd like to have the quick-reply above the pagination & the 2 buttons.
Anyways.. These thing i like to see, are personal, and the forum now is working. It's n00b-proof, and far better then phpBB, SMF, vBulletin, IPB, etc..etc.. How they handle urls just gives me the shivers, and way to bloated.
Keep up the good work..

True words my friend. This is simple, fast, good design (also easy to revamp). And of course, best thing: its free! I hope more features will be added with time.
As soon as I get any small incomes via the forum I will donate ;-)
