I have noticed a site under the url http://www.yaodownload.com/forum/ has ignored your copyright and has deleted it from their forum. I just wanted you to know so you can stop the treatment of your intellectual  property being thrown away like trash.

This could also have been e-mailed (see contact information). I don't see a reason why you would want to register to post this in the Help & Support forum.

There is not a single clause in the license we use that tells to keep the visible Copyright line as-is. You can remove it as you wish, though you should not alter it. This may be illegal depending on the country you are in. As a comparison, removing the copyright line from a phpBB board only results in "losing the ability to get support at phpBB.com". It is not illegal.

What's even more, UseBB 2 probably won't have a public visible copyright line or link anymore.

Bad move. You will get more users if the copyright is there with a link to the official forums.
Its up to you of course, I prefer without code but I also want this project to become very big :)

The copyright line has not really drawn that much people over here in the past four years. Ofcourse, we still got a long way to go with UseBB.

If someone is interested in the forum software being used on a website, he/she will find out anyway (the HTML code will contain references to UseBB).

As another comparison, Drupal never had a copyright or "powered by" line but has grown to one of the biggest and most popular CMSes. Drupal has interesting possibilities and features, which is much more important than a reciprocal link. Many professional websites are likely to delete any visible copyright line after all.

Hehe, after re-thinking it I think you are right.
If I include a copyright and a link to this site, and sticky this thread, will I still get support here?
I saw somewhere that people who remove copyright wont get any support.

I was letting the administration know, because this is one this that makes me mad, that when people remove the copyright from opensource software without permission or even asking if it is ok (in this case, I think the admin made it clear it is not mandatory, but is a nice addition to their wonderful work). This makes me mad when people also say as on that site that it is powered by another software. I mean we all will take payware and rip it when no ones looking, but this is community developed, like linux. It just makes me mad.
