Apologies if there already exists a thread about this issue. I searched and didn't find, but maybe my searching powers need work.

When sending emails through the forum (either to a user or in account activation) the forum claims that the email is sent successfully. Unfortunately, the recipient never receives the activation (or other type) of email.

Any ideas on how I can fix this? I've been looking in my files for configuration settings for SMPT server, or sendmail settings but haven't found yet.

Here is my system info (taken from the ACP):
System Info

* UseBB version: 1.0.9 (Version Check)
* PHP version: 5.2.3
* SQL server driver: MySQL/5.0.37-community-nt
* HTTP server: Microsoft-IIS/6.0
* Operating system: Windows_NT
* Server load values: Unknown

Please help :)

Thanks for the fast reply.

My problem seems to be the same as : http://www.usebb.net/community/topic-1340.html
(activation emails don't come)

I've been testing it with gmail.com and yahoo.com addresses. Neither receive activation emails although useBB says they were sent successfully.

My host is terrible so I'm afraid to even ask them about this. (they may look and suddenly wreck everything. seems to happen occassionally anyway).

I may have to just turn off the email activation, but I'll keep plunking away for a while.

Also similar to the other thread, my admin account can both send and receive email through the forum. The admin account must be either a sender or a receiver. If admin isn't included somehow, the mail doesn't go.

Is there any way of making the activation email come from my admin account?

You can set the board's email address to your own address in the ACP.

My problem turned out to be with my host. They had to enable the php mail function properly. It only took a few weeks <sarcasm> after first contacting them for them to work it out.

Anyhoo.. problem resolved.
