Hello everyone,
I just installed UseBB following steps 1-4 from the docs/index.html file; however, when I go online to view my forum, I am encountering an error message.
If someone can give me the instructions to resolve this, it would be most appreciated.
Thanks for your help in advance!
Michelle

If you were able to get through the install fine, it's probably a problem with MySQL. You'd have to contact your host or double check your MySQL details.

My hosting company advised that this is an issue with the forum application. Can this be true? If not, I'll ask them to look into the problem again.
Thanks, Michelle

On some linux . the socket of mysql is /var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock. In your php.ini you will find a line: mysql.default_socket = /tmp/mysql.sock thats your hosting issue not USEBB.

Perhaps you should use mysqli instead of mysql? Other than that it definitely is a problem on your host.

Thank you Yj98 and Dietrich. My hosting company is not helpful, so I will try another hosting company as I would not want to manipulate the codes

There should be a drop down list with 2 options in it when installing.
