I just read through the installation and setup information, and I must say that it's pretty intimidating for someone who isn't all that familiar with the actual setup of tables and such for databases. Any plans to automate all of this more fully?

An installer should come in 0.3. I don't know if an ACP for setting up forums will make it in 0.3 though.

Well, I plan to wait until the forum is more complete, anyway. I'm using PunBB right now, but I'd prefer having UseBB, since it's a bit more clean-looking in terms of appearance.
