I have some general plans/deas for the ACP. They are quite stout ideas for a basic ACP. If possible, I will post them in this thread as I collect the ideas.

-Side panel or category
*FIRST CATEGORY*
-Settings of general forum(http links, forum name, etc.)
-Censors(word censors should come preinstalled)
-Newsletter, depending on rank, whether Sup Admin, Admin, Sup Mod, Mod, Member(by PM or email)
-Search, for user's with specific IP, or for keyword in username, or for specific content in posts
-Attachment, for search, delete/move, save to db,also offer to empty logs
*SECOND CATEGORY*
-Forum, to make new forums, categories, sub-forums, delete, move, rename, etc
-Moderators, to assign moderators for a specific forum.
-Prune, to prune specific posts, forum
*THIRD CATEGORY*
-IP Banning, search for IP and ban the IP range
-Members, search for members with diff rank
-Ranks,instate new ranks or custom user names
-Change Username, to change username of a member
*FOURTH CATEGORY*
-Emoticons, pick, delete, choose
-Skins, to choose different template and skin setups
*FIFTH CATEGORY*
-Admin Logs, show admin's actions, also offer to empty
-Mod logs, show mods' actions, also offer to empty
-Bot logs, show robots spidering
-email logs
-warn logs
-bot logs
-Database, PHP info
-Forum info, with version, offer to upgrade
-forum backup

-Fixing for Threads

It looks a bit like IPB's control panel, or that's what I think after using IPB only a few months about 2,5 years ago. Generally it looks good but there are features in there that will probably not be implemented in v1.0, such as control features for PM, bot and spider logs, rank names, attachments, etc... Those are features not suited for UseBB's goal.

0.6 will probably only have features to set up general configuration, categories, forums and a SQL toolbox to execute queries and see the results of them.

Oh, of course these things are long term and some aren't necesarily needed. Theese are many features, and since UseBB's goal is to be a 'light' forum package, then only the bare necessities for an admin would be needed.

PC_Freak : wouldn't it help to define a clear "not gonna happen/gonna happen" attitude, individually on each of the proposed features for the ACP ? I think it will concetrate the efforts, from any1, to a tighter scope...

I don't know yet what the ACP will hold. I only know there are features over there that certainly will not be included because they are not planned in the user interface for 1.0 (also see the features page). Work on the ACP will only begin in 0.6 so until then I cannot post yet what will be present and what not.

very fair... I would say get a skeleton of the categories that'll be in there, and then get the detailed features.
