Hi,
I already posed the question in the Dutch board, and got sufficient reply to it. It is a features which will not be implemented into USEBB 1.x, fine by me. However, I liked my idea and looked in the scripts.
I found the place where to add a level, changed forum accesslevels, added to the language file, PRONTO, worked fine in useBB 0.4.. (last stable, april 2005)
Now I just want to know : - will my changes be influenced by some upgrades (each time I'll have them written again, I know) like is the security script going to change ? or some other levelcontrolling scripts ?
- is anyone interested where to look and modify yourself, let me know, and how to present the modifs
I put the topic here as I thought it was teh best place for anyone to read. It is not really a mod I suppose

I'd like to additionally request for ranking system ( based on posts and activity ) when that userlevel system is up and running it shouldn't take more than an afternoon to make my request happen .. Thx to angro for thinking about the rest of us that don't share the same language

Hi Herodes,
suppose you mean an automatically ranking system, because I do use it alreday, just write whatever you want in the ranking column of the usebb_members and you're done

i know about that ability, but,.. i was refering to automatically changing rankings depending on posts. Manual input isnt exactly what I perceive automatic..

Hi, someone already did some mods in the scripts to create more userlevels ? Maybe you can help me out. I created levels, changed codes in functions,lang_english,topic, profile (added levels where needed) Now I'v public forums, registered forums and even PRIVATE forums. I've only some troubles in userlist and staff, eveything other works fine (admin, supermod, mod, coremembers, members, guests) all can read, write repl... as foreseen (depend authlevel) As said, only on userlevel and staff list I've some troubles (error on link userlist, incorrect level display in staff list) Where do I need to look for changing those items accordingly ? Someone needing the scripts to have a look, no problem, send mail to modifs@hijzijzo.be and I send you my modifications, but do not use for distribution without confirmation of UseBB. Would I need to put somewhere that I do not use original codings ?

my problem is solved, found the last items to change, works perfectly to me now (5 instead of 3 levels)
Maybe we should have this as kind of an option, in config, to see howw much levels we want
Keep up the good work, I love it and our users too (thats what counts ain't it)

I think UseBB 1.0 really doesn't need more than 3 (or 4) levels: guests, members, moderators and administrators. Global moderators for example are not really used on forums that many, but it might be possible in 2.0. An automaitic ranking system might maybe come after 1.0, we'll see.

In fact, I was merely thinking of three user levels instead of more moderators :
guest, registered, core members, moderators, administrator
I've just one supplemental level for mods : Supermods, just because I wanted to test things out.
But two levels of users + guest would maybe appreciated. Don' bother, I know where to change, I'll do it each time you upgrade. No big deal.
