Many forums are being polluted by stupid ad bots. How can this be prevented? Is there something 'ultimate' solution?

On weblogs they use visual confirmation, this may be a solution for forums where guests are able to post. Of course, for registration this should also be implemented (not in UseBB 1.0 though).
