I think it would be great, if member could subscribe only for replys on his/her own posts. Then if topic becomes too active he/she will not need to browse it all to get his replys.

This is only possible when using a threaded interface. You can not see properly to which post someone is replying on a flat interface.

I am not a programmer, sorry... But in my opinion, it is possible to add "subscribe" link to any post just beside "edit, delete" anyway you are checking if some particular post belongs to logged-in user. And, maybe, when someone else replies to this post by clicking "quote" or "reply" you can check in the database if the owner of original post is subscribed to reply notification, and send owner an e-mail. It will take one more query to the database and should not add too much load on the hosting server. |

This has nothing to do with programming.
![]() With a flat interface all messages follow each other, there is no such thing as replying to a post. This applies only to threaded forums (Phorum, W-Agora, ...). Of course there is a quote option, but you can hardly check every post if it contains a quote from another post. At this time, UseBB is flat only, and I'm not yet sure whether there is a threaded interface coming in UseBB. _______________ |
